To be fair, i'd been drifting in photography somewhat and had lost my mojo. Back in 2019, I had an aging Canon EOS 70d and a smaller M50, but the cameras just didn't inspire me much. I'd been shooting with the 70d since 2013, it being a camera that had replaced my Olympus E-420 and Canon EOS 650D
Yeah, I hear you, photography is not about the equipment, and i'd agree, to an extent.
In the last 2 years, my eyesight has deteriorated quite a bit, to the point where I need reading glasses all the time. I decided I wanted to change to a more tactile camera system, one i could feel more creative with and after a lot of research I chose a fujifilm X-T30. I picked on up in the Amazon black friday sale, and loved the controls, the colour science, my passion for photography was starting to re-ignite.

One of the first things I did was head out into Newcastle city centre, to try my hand at street photography. I was extremely aware of folks around me, their eyes seemed to glare back at me every time I pointed the camera.
When I bought the camera, I had only the one kit lens, so I also bought an adapter. This allowed me to attach the old Helios 44-2, 58mm, F2 lens from my dads Zenit E.
The Helios was a copy of the Carl Zeiss Biotar 58mm f2 lens, and was actually not a bad lens, despite being a cheap mass produced clone.

This was one of the few shots I got on the day, with that manual lens.
I've always enjoyed taking candid shots, I love to capture the moment. This is the main draw for me and street photography fit that bill.
My journey had begun!

I'd also joined a local camera club, to see if I could meet some more photographers. I started a Youtube channel as I wanted to do something photography orientated, I just didn't know what at the time.
I'd also bought a drone, which opened up a new angle on photography, quite literally.
Then the pandemic happened.
